Product Demo Video Statistics 2026: 40+ Verified Stats
Product demo video statistics for 2026: 67% of B2B buyers prefer rep-free buying, demos are a top-three source for 74%, plus interactive demo benchmarks.

Product demo video statistics matter more in 2026 because the buyer has changed. Two thirds of B2B buyers now prefer to buy without talking to a sales rep, most start their research with an AI chatbot, and the demo has become the thing they judge a product by before anyone from the vendor is in the room.
This page collects the figures that describe that shift. Every number was checked against its original publisher in September 2026, and the source is named on every line. Where a figure is older, we say so, and where a number cuts against video, it stays in.
Product demo video statistics at a glance
- 67% of B2B buyers prefer a rep-free buying experience (Gartner, 2026)
- 82% of software buyers sourced recommendations from an AI chatbot in the last two years (G2, 2026)
- 74% of buyers name product demos among their top three most influential sources (TrustRadius, 2023)
- 94% say demos tailored to their use case are important (TrustRadius, 2023)
- 80% of people have bought or downloaded an app after watching a demo video (Wyzowl)
- 91% of people prefer marketing videos under two minutes (Wyzowl, 2026)
- 12% higher conversion for interactive demos than product videos (Navattic, 2026)
How B2B buyers evaluate software now
From Gartner's 2026 sales survey:
- 67% of B2B buyers prefer a rep-free buying experience, based on 646 buyers surveyed in August and September 2025.
- That was 61% a year earlier, from 632 buyers, so the preference grew six points in twelve months.
From G2's 2026 Buyer Behavior Report, based on more than 1,000 B2B software buyers:
- 82% of buyers sourced software recommendations from an AI chatbot such as ChatGPT or Google AI Mode in the last 24 months.
- Evaluation is now the longest stage of the buying journey, ahead of research for the first time.
- Nearly half of software buyers said their CFO vetoed an already-approved deal in the last year.
- 7 in 10 say the pace of AI change is pushing them toward shorter contracts.
From TrustRadius's 2026 B2B Buying Disconnect Report, based on 1,862 technology buyers surveyed in January 2026:
- 63% of buyers used AI during their purchase journey.
- 94% of those buyers fact-check what the AI tells them at least some of the time.
- 74% use reviews to inform their decision.
- 83% shortlisted three or fewer products.
- Only 13% used analyst reports.
- Transparent pricing has been buyers' #1 wish-list item for four years running.
Product demo video statistics on buyer influence
From TrustRadius's buyer research, its 2023 edition, based on 1,604 technology buyers:
- 74% named product demos among their top three most influential sources, first of any resource.
- 94% said demos tailored to their specific use case and preferences were important.
- Free trials grew as a preferred resource from 67% in 2022 to 77% in 2023.
- 61% of buyers rated user reviews as impactful, against only 35% of vendors, a gap in how sellers read their own buyers.
These are 2023 figures. TrustRadius's 2026 edition still ranks demos and free trials among the most influential resources but does not publish a percentage for them, so the 2023 numbers remain the most recent specific measurement.
Demo and explainer video statistics
From Wyzowl:
- 96% of people have watched an explainer video to learn about a product or service.
- 80% have bought or downloaded an app after watching a demo video.
- 93% of video marketers say video has increased understanding of their product.
- 51% say 30 to 60 seconds is the ideal length for a marketing video.
- 91% prefer videos under two minutes.
From HubSpot's marketing statistics:
- 89% of people say an explainer video has persuaded them to buy (HubSpot State of Video Marketing, 2023).
- 40% of marketers say the biggest benefit of video is helping customers understand their product (HubSpot, 2023).
- 73% of consumers prefer a short-form video to learn about a product or service (The Leap, 2023).
- 51% of consumers rely on product videos when making a purchase decision (Plainly, 2025).
From Sprout Social and Animoto:
- 85% of consumers say video has helped them make a buying decision (Sprout Social).
- 86% of people prefer to learn about a brand through video (Animoto).
Attention and length statistics
From Vidyard's analysis of 943,305 videos in 2024:
- 65% of viewers finish videos under one minute.
- Only 20% finish videos longer than 20 minutes.
- Businesses published 420% more videos over 20 minutes long than the year before, which means more long content competing for the same shrinking attention.
The practical reading: a demo that has to be watched to the end should be short, and a demo built for evaluation can be long only if the viewer controls where they go in it.
Interactive demo statistics
Interactive demos let a buyer click through the product rather than watch it. From Navattic's State of the Interactive Product Demo 2026, based on 40,000 demos built on its platform:
- 40,000 interactive demos were built in the past year, 43% more than the year before.
- 18% of roughly 5,000 B2B SaaS websites now offer an interactive demo, up from 12% in 2024.
- "Book a Demo" is still the most common website CTA at 61%, ahead of "Try for Free" at 22% and "Interactive Demo" at 18%.
- The top 1% of demos see 56% engagement, 48% completion and a 71% click-through rate, with 2.2 minutes spent.
- The top 25% see 55% engagement, 43% completion and a 29% click-through rate, with 3.9 minutes spent.
- Multi-flow demos are completed 48% more often than single-flow demos.
- The best-performing flows run 5 to 13 steps, and flows of 1 to 6 steps have the highest completion.
- Interactive demos convert 12% better than product videos.
- 66% of top demos are ungated, and ungated demos see 6% higher engagement and 7% higher completion.
- When a demo is gated, 75% ask for just one field.
- Demos placed on product pages rose to 62%, from 19% in 2024, and on homepages to 48%, from 8%.
- 80% of top demo CTAs sit above the fold or in the navigation bar.
- Viewers spend 2.3 minutes on marketing demos, 6.5 minutes on sales demos and 19.7 minutes on training demos.
- 52% of demos have a mobile strategy.
Figure 38 deserves an honest note from a video company. Navattic sells interactive demos, and its own data says they beat video on conversion. That is a real finding, not a reason to drop video: a demo video is what gets someone to the point of wanting to click through the product, and the two work at different stages.
What the numbers mean for SaaS teams
The demo happens before the call now. With 67% preferring rep-free buying and evaluation the longest stage of the journey, the demo on your site is doing the job a sales engineer used to do.
Specific beats general. 94% want demos tailored to their use case, and the top-performing interactive demos use multiple flows. One generic walkthrough is the weakest version of a demo.
Short to earn attention, deep to earn the decision. 91% prefer videos under two minutes, and sales demos hold 6.5 minutes. Use a short video to open and a longer, self-directed demo for evaluation.
Don't gate it. Two thirds of the best demos are ungated and perform better for it.

How we verified these figures
Each number was taken from the publisher's own page, not from another roundup. That matters more in this category than most, because demo statistics are heavily recycled and drift as they travel.
One example from building this page: a widely repeated claim says product demos are the top resource for 58% of B2B buyers. TrustRadius's own report says 74% name demos among their top three sources. The 58% figure does not appear in the source it is attributed to. We use the number the publisher printed.
Two further cautions. Several sources here sell the thing they measure: Navattic sells interactive demos, Vidyard sells video hosting, and Wyzowl makes explainer videos. Their data is still useful, but read the conclusions with that in mind. And a few figures are from 2023; they are labelled, and they stay only where no newer measurement of the same thing exists.
